Chilo
(Tomato Omlette)
The Sindhi version of a tomato omlette, this
vegetarian delicacy can be quickly whipped
up. SERVES:4 Cooking time: 7-8 mins for each
Chilo (as it is cooked on a low flame)

Method:
1) · Mix the gram
flour with the finely chopped onion, tomato,
green chillies, red chilli powder, turmeric
powder and just sufficient water to make a
thin batter.
2) Heat 4 tablespoons of
oil on a tava and pour out a portion of the
gram flour(besan) mixture on top of it.
3) Spred it evenly like an
omlette.
4) Simmer the gas.
5) Take half teaspoon of
oil and put it all around the Chilo.
6) Once the Chilo starts
puffing at the bottom, turn it to the other
side, again putting half teaspoon of oil around
it.
7) Now you must also cover
it with a lid.
8) Remove when crisp and
golden brown.
9) Make the other Chilas
also in the same way.
Serve hot, with a slice of
bread, tomato ketchup or green chutney. |
