Plain Pakora

Ingredients:

1 cup Besan (gram flour)
½ tsp. Chilli powder
1 tsp jeera
1 tsp salt
2 potatoes pinch of cooking soda, baking powder or 1 tsp oil.
1 cup approximately water

Method:

Seive the besan, add salt, chilli powder, soda/oil, jeera, and pour water slowly and stir till the batter is thick. Do not make thin batter as it will not coat the vegetables properly. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.

Peel and slice the 2 potatoes set aside in cold water. Dip each slice of potato into the batter and deep-fry a few at’a time till golden brown in colour. These Pakoras are fried only once, as frying second time makes the Pakoras very oily-serve hot with green chutney.
