COINS DURING BRITISH RULE shows that one rupee was divided in 16 annas and 64 paisas of today's 100 paise. PAI was the smallest coin. PAISO was the next coin equal to 3 paises, had to shapes both copper. TAKO was equal to two paises. ANNA was equal to two takas. TWO ANNA, FOUR ANNA, was known as PAULI todays 25 paise. EIGHT ANNA was known as ADHIYO (50 Paise) and ONE RUPEE was famous as RUPAIYO. Rupee was of pure Silver weighing one tola i.e. 11.3 grams.
