Sanjay Batra has made a swift transition from theatre to electronic media. born in Raipur, he shifted base to Mumbai in 1996 and worked with Ila Arun in her theatre group. Then in 1996, he was offered a character role in Raman Kumar's serial 'Umeed', which was followed by Shatranj, Farz, and Thief of Baghdad.

The lure of the big screen fetched him important character roles in Mela and Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke. He will now be seen in Mahesh Mnjrekar's forthcoming films Pratibimb and Supari
As a main lead, he has worked in a regional film called 'Chattisgori'.
