Mr. Krishna R. Kripalani was the first Sindhi who was honoured with Padma Shri on 26th January 1969 for his services is the Sahitya Akademy and promotion of Indian Literature.

Mr. Jiwanlal Jairamdas was another Sindhi honoured with Padam Shree on 26th January 1970. He has remained Secretary of Sabarmati Ashram, and is presently working for Bharat Harijan Sewa Parishad, New Delhi.

Dr. R.K. Menda, Heart Specialist, received Padam Shree award from President V.V. Giri on 26th January 1972 for his exeptional medical services. He is attached to Jaslok and National Hospital at Bombay.

Mr. Huudraj Dukhayal was the fourth one who received Padam Shree Award from President Zail singh on 26th January 1983 for his services rendered to the Sindhis at Gandhidham. He is a noted poet and a true Gandhian

Prof. Ram Panjwani was the fifth Sindhi to receive Padam Shree from President Zail Sindhi on 26th January 1985 for his excellent work in Educational, Social and Cultural fields.
