comedian par excellence, very few people are aware of Gop Kamlani, who ruled over Bollywood in the era of the great Pritviraj Kapoor. Inspite of doing only comic roles, Kamlani managed to carve his own identity. He has given hits like 'Padosan' and 'Patanga'.

Being a sindhi, his mother wanted him to marry a girl from their own community. However, he was in love with a Christian girl Latika, but he had promised his mother that he would not marry any girl outside their community as long as she lived. When his mother passed away, he married Latika, who was an actress and dancer.

Kamlani was one of the first Sindhis to join the film industry. He was also the first comedian to dive into the Bollywood shores.

Some of the first few sindhis of the film industry were film makers Mohan Bhavnani and Khamchand Daryani and actor Hari Shivdasani, father of actresses Babita and Sadhna.

He died at a young age of 43.
