Kailash Advani was born in Karachi and at
11, he came to Mumbai, as a refugee. He
is associated with Gulzar since 1956, though
joined Ramanand Sagar in 1964. Advani has
made a Hindi film "Ikrar" and
a tele-serial, "Ek Kahani Aur Mili",
based on the short stories of O. Henry.
He feels sad that only 17-18 Sindhi movies
have been made in the last 53-54 years.
Majority of the Hindi film producers like,
Pahlaj Nihalani, Ramesh Taurani, Vashu Bhagnani
belong to this community. Nowadays there
are no takers for Sindhi movies and they
are practically becoming extinct. Keeping
this in mind, he took the reins of direction
of the recently released Sindhi movie "Paarewari".
Advani wants to release this movie in Dubai
and Hong Kong as well since he believes
that Sindhis here take more pride in their
mother tongue. |
