Malini Ramani

Malini Ramani was born in New York.
She first came to India at the age of 11, when she was taken there by her parents and put into a boarding school in the Himalayan Mountains (Sanawar).
From the very start she found that it was too military and conformist for her. Being a rebel from her childhood she ended up running away from there 6 -1/2 years later.

After studying fashion Buying and Merchandising at F.I.T. in New York, she came back to India, where she believed a sort of transformation was about to take place in the country and she was keen to be part of the revolution of a New Youthful India.

For the next 5 years she proceeded to develop try her hand at a number of exciting and successful creative pursuits that were at brand new to India.
Such as Radio, T.V., Nightclubs and writing a very popular Gossip Column.

Then, literally by accident fashion fell into her lap and her life changed forever.
She found that fashion was the combination of everything she loved. It was the most magical way of sharing her experiences, drama’s and fantasy’s with others.
Completely self taught, she made her debut at India Fashion week 2000, for which she received rave reviews and a new style was born…‘Rock star-meets Indian Princess”.

Today she is one of leading designers in the country and her sexy clothes sparkle on the cocktail circuit from Bombay to Monte’ Carlo to Beirut to Moscow.
