Accomplished
Kathak dancer, Anila Sundar set the stage on fire
with her dancing at a very young age. Having received
her early training under Hazarilal and Damyanti
Joshi, and later underr the able guidance of Vijaykumar
Shreshtha, disciple of Sukhdev Misra of Banares,
Anila has perormed extensively in Inida and abroad.
Her perofrmances have reaped in quite a few awards
and rewards. A Master's in Psychology and lecturer
at Jai Hind College, Bombay, she is the Director
of 'Rachna Nrityalya' where she imparts training
in Kathak. Her outstanding ballets 'Sikka Sajanjee',
'Thee Na Juda Jani Munkhaan' and 'Sind Muhinjee
Amaa' have won her international name and fame.
RANI
KARNA
One
of the foremost exponents of Kathak and Odissi,
Rani Karna learnt dancing under greats like Nrityacharya
Narayan Prasad, Pandit Sunder Prasad and Birju Maharaj.
Her creative repertoire finds expression in integrated
compositions of music , dance and literature. Her
presentation of 'Navarasamalika', based on the verses
of Saint Poet Surdasa, has received wide acclaim.
Widely travelled in India and abroad, Rani Karna
teaches at Calcutta and has done considerable research
work on the aesthetics of Kathak. She was awarded
the 'President's Gold Medal' and the 'Order of the
Queen' from the Queen of Laos.
