Turning now to public health, again we find that the small Sindhi community has played the role of pioneers. Think of Jaslok, Hinduja, Raheja, and Hiranandani Hospitals in Mumbai, or T Choithram Hospital in Indore, and you see images of world class health facilities which have benefited hundreds of thousands of patients, and provided employment to medicalpersonnel, in thousands. Before these private hospitals came on the scene, medical services in India were limited to whatever the local municipal hospital provided in its bureaucratic, sluggish manner.
So, while taking care of his balance sheets, the Sindhibusiness class has helped improve the quality of lifeand health care in India as a whole. We say India asa whole because donors from other communities have followed the path opened up by the success of Jaslok and other hospital systems. |
