HE
was a great patriot, a great social worker and
a freedom fighter. In 1916 he joined the Home
Rule League of Mrs. Annie Basant. In 1917 he joined
Sind National College as professor and resigned
in 1919 to participate in the agitation against
Rowlatt Act under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
In 1921, he became editor of 'Hindu' and for writing
anti-British articles, in 1922 he was convicted
and given 2 years jail. From 1924-47 he actively
participated in all freedom struggles of the country
and was sent to jail many times. In 1926 he joined
Sind Swaraj Ashram and was elected as President
of District Congress Committee at Hyderabad Sind.
In 1937, when Provincial Autonomy was introduced
he was elected to Sind Legislative Assembly and
was elected as leader of opposition in the Sind
Assembly.
After
partition, he became Advisor member of Rehabilitation
Ministry.
In
the wake of partition of the country, he worked
for uplift of refugees and their rehabilitation
and helped thousands of uprooted Sindhis to be
resettled in various parts of Bharat.
