Mrs. Kamla D. Jhangiani,at a young age of eight acted and sang in "Dilara" as a child artist. Her father saw some hidden talent in her, and engaged a music teacher to give her the background of classical music. In 1945, Filmstan produced "Shahnai" in which "Meri Jan Meri Jan Sunday Ki Sunday" was sung by Kamla and the song become a super hit for its catchy words. C. Ramchandra, its music director, also became famous. Ustad Azmatkhan, connected with All India Radio, a famous teacher and singer gave her good grounding in classical music. Unis Malik, a very well known Ghazal composer also taught her and gave her the fundamentals of Ghazal. With the result Kamla can sing Ghazal, Classical music, Thoormi, Bhav Geet with equal ease.
