A
rich man's new born is often referred to as 'born with a
silver spoon'. But what do you call a person who has taken
birth in the house of melodies. Obviously, 'born with a
melody spoon'. This is the way our Dushyant Ahuja would
like to describe himself an drightly so. Shri Chuhadram
Ahuja for a father and Jaikishan Ahuja for a brother, both
stalwart classical singers, what more can the youngest sibling
ask for. Their luminous presence has been a unending source
of inspiration to him right from the beginning.
The noteworthy feature is that though his elder brother,
Jaikishan, has found solace in his classical surroundings,
Dushyant on the other hand has spread his fragrance as a
urdu ghazals and Sindhi folk songs quite successfully. For
a man who has never undergone any formal training in music,
his achievements are quite remarkable. Sindhi folk is his
passion and his never-ending search for an identity, which
he has taken on as a 'tapasya' of his life, always finding
ways and means to enrich it with his original insights and
touches.
37 years of age, Dushyant stated making a mark in this field
through his participation in the youth festivals in 1978
and 1980 at the state level and went on to win the first
places in both the years. Since then his eminence as a singer
in Gujarati, Urdu and Sindhi has spread all over the country
and has toured cities like Madras, Calcutta, Mumbai, Raipur,
Ahemdabad, Baroda and Bulsar to name a few. His recognition
as a Sindhi folk singer has taken him across the borders
to the Middle East and the Gulf.
Apart from this he has been associated with the Gujarat
State Sangeet Natya Academy since 1978 and is a recognized
B-high artiste in singing and All India Radio since 1978.
As of now this budding reservoir of talent is on the search
for new outlets of the community. We at 'Aseen Sindhi' wish
him a grand success in his career and may God be with him
in his endeavours.
