YEAR 1987

SIND ARTS COLLEGE LATER D.J. SIND COLLEGE, KARACHI: The foundation stone of the first degree college in Sind was laid by Lord Duffrin, Viceroy of India. on Dec. 11, 1887 in Shival Das Chandumal, the Deputy Commissioner's bunglow at Thatai Compound, Karachi. Later it was shifted to Edllji Dinsha (Bunder) Road, in a new building, completed in 1891.

GOVERNOR'S VISIT TO SIND: Lord Reay, Governor of Bombay visited Sind and on 13th Jan., 1887 was felicitated by the Sind Sabha.

FIRST SINDHI DRAMA: Laila Majnu, written by Mirza Qalich Beg in 1880, was published in 1887.
