FIRST
SINDHI ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE SWADESHI MOVEMENT:
Shri Lalchand Amardanomal Jagtiani resigned
from the Nav Vidyalya, Hyderabad and joined
the freedom struggle and set up the Vande
Matram Mandli.
VANDE MATARAM MANDALI: The
Mandali formed by Shri Lalchand Amardanomal
Jagtiani, Shri Jawharmal T. Mansukhani, Shri
Jhamatmal Jagtiani, Shri Tolaram Balani, and
Shri Choithram Gidwani sowed the seeds of
freedom struggle in Sind.
ANTI-BRITISH DEMONSTRATIONS:
After the exile of Lala Lajpartrai, several
mammoth demonstrations were held in Sind against
the British rule. When the D.J. Sind College
students took out the processions, Shri Jiwatram
Bhagwandas Kirpalani, a student of the college,
was rusticated by the Principal, Mr, Jackson,
who later resigned in November.
THE HUR MOVEMENT: The Hurs
became active in Larkana district. They used
to hide in the forest surrounding the lake
of Makhi.
KRISHNA KRIPALANI: Ms. Krishna
R. Kripalani, who later was conferred the
Padma Shri, was born at Karachi on 29th September.
SIND SPINNING & WEAVING MILLS:
Prospectus was issued and plans were ready
to start the Swadeshi Cloth Mill at Karachi.
KHUBSURAT BALA: The play
was adapted and directed by Shri Kishinchand
'Bewas' from Agha Hasar's Urdu play of the
same title as presented by the Chandka Amateur
Dramatic Society, Hyderabad.
MATA: A political Sindhi
newspaper started by Shri Tolaram Balani at
Karachi.
OTHER NEWSPAPERS: Taalim
jo Taro, Dadabhai Nawroji and Mulk Madah were
other Sindhi newspapaers criticizing the British
rule were started and confiscated during the
year.
BHAGATAN JOON SAKHYUN: Diwan Dayaram
Gidumal published the book in Sindhi.
GHARIB ALLAGAT: Part I of
this book based on Shah jo Rasalo was written
by Kako Bherumal Mahrchand.
GULDASTO: Collection of selected
literary works of Diwan Dayaram Vasanmal,
and Diwan Lilaram Premchand appearing in the
Saraswati, Jot and Pirbhat magazines. |
