Late Fatechand U. Ramsay
Late
Fatechand Ramsingani, was born in Larkana
in 1916. Jokingly addressed as Ramsay by
his British principals, he became better
known as F.U. Ramsay first as importer and
manufacturer of radios and then as a filmmaker.
He had a humble start as a radio mechanic
in 1936 and gradually opened large showrooms
in Karachi, Delhi, Lahore and Bombay. In
1958, he made his first film "Rustom
Sohrab". It was a successful film but
he learned bitter lessons. One has to rely
on so many people to make a film, like raising
as building. Consequently he trained his
sons Kumar, Gangu, Tulsi, Arjan, Shaym and
Kiran in different departments of Films
Making which included Direction, Writing,
Editing, Cinematography and Audiography.
F.U. Ramsay made his first horror film in
1970 with help of his sons and established
himself as a successful Film Maker of non-star
cast. Ramsays
are now known as an "Institution
of Horror Films".
