SAINT BABA NEBHRAJ (1888-1949)

Baba Nebhraj took birth in the family of Bhatias of Rohri in 1888. He was very clever at studies and hence after passing his Finals, he started working as a teacher. While teaching, his mind was turned to spiritual matters. He was lucky to get company of Sai Bedal who quenched his spiritual thirst. He used to remain so much involved in meditation that he would sometimes forget his school duties.

Once there was an inspection in the school, but Baba Nebhraj was in a state of ecstasy sitting at home. Next day when he remembered that he had missed the inspection day, he directly went to the Principal and submitted his leave application. The principal laughed at him and said, "Are you joking? You were present here yesterday and the Inspector has written a good remark about you." This incident changed his life altogether.

The house in which Baba Nebhraj lived was quite old and some part of it fell down. Baba Nebhraj was in his ecstatic mood and did not even come to know about it. He used to wear a long white gown-type shirt, his hair and bread were snow white, and always used to move to and fro in the room. He carried a stick and many a time beat people with it. But those who were beaten considered themselves lucky.

A woman always used to take care of him. He used to abuse her but she did not mind. Her son was not well and was soon to be married. Baba started saying, " The marriage pots have turned down' and it happened that the betrothal was cancelled. But the woman continued to do service for him and ultimately Baba was happy and blessed her. Soon her son got married also.

Like that Baba Nebhraj performed many miracles. If he was happy with the person he would abuse and beat the person and the person would consider himself very lucky.

Baba Nebhraj died at the age of 90, on 27th June 1949 in Rohri. His death anniversary is celebrated till today in Delhi.
