SAI UDEROLAL (950-962)
Sai
Uderolal, who is also known by various other names
like Amarlal and Jhulelal, is the 'Isht
Devta' of Sindhis. More specially after partitions
in India, it has been popularly known as "Jhulelal',
faith for whom was regenerated by late Prof. Ram
Panjwani.
Sai Uderolal was born on a Chetichand Day, a Friday,
in the house of Saint Ratanrai and Mata Devaki.
Right from the childhood Uderolal performed miracles
and brought 'Mirkh Shah; round from the latter's
cruelities. It was because of the miracles of
Sai Uderolal that a rocky pilgrimage place was
established in Sindhu river between Rohri and
Sukkur. Sindhi Hindus called it 'Jind Pir' (Zindah
Peer) and Muslims call it 'Khwaja Khisir'.
Sai Uderolal died
at the age of 12 years, in Hala taluka near Tando
Adam. There he vanished along with his horse into
the earth. Even till today there is a tomb where
Hindus and Muslims go to pay their respects. His
followers are also called ' Dariya Shahi' or Dariya
Panthi', after the name of 'Varun Devta', Since
he is an immortal Saint, he is also called amarlal,
and because he used to swing in the 'Jhoola' in
his childhood, he is known as 'Jhulelal'. His
birthday, the chetichand day is celebrated as
Sindhiyat Day.
