BHAGAT WADHURAM SAHEB (1868-1929)

Bhagat Wadhuram Saheb was born in Bhirya on 28th October 1868, in the house of Bhai Jhamatmal. Right from his childhood he was not interested in studies. He learnt a little of Gurmukhi and momorised some shlokas of Gurbani. At the age of 17 he got married and opened a cloth shop but he was more interested in God's name than measuring cloth. He also opened a grains shop. He used to tell his customers, "God is my measure and the corn belongs to Gold, intentions are yours. He will not allow you to take more." In fact those customers who cheated him suffered much. In everything he used to see God.
His 22 years son who was to get married, died in plague. Bhagat Saheb came to Bhirya from Karachi and visited all the houses in neighborhood informing them about his son's death, without being emotional or sentimental. He was very much detached. When people used to abuse him, he used to take out a mirror and look in it to see whether the abuse was marked on the face or on any other part of the body. The people seeing him doing this, felt remorseful and used to fall on his feet. Bhagat Saheb used to help the needy and the poor secretly. He preferred to walking out the distance then to use any cart.

On 25th January, 1929 which was a satyanarain Day, he felt sick with a minor ailment, and left this ephemeral world without letting anybody know.
