BABA SAROOODAS SAHIB [Gadesar of Darbar Sahib Halani from 1891 to 1940]
Baba Saroopdas Sahib was born as "Mohan" in a small village called Sajanshah, in disctrict Kandyaro, zilla Nawabshah in Sindh to Seth Gurmukhdas, a wealthy landlord. Sadh Sahib of Darbar Sahib Halani when passing this village happened to see him and He knew that the child was very bright. He requested his parents (who were also followers of the Darbar Sahib) and brought him to the Darbar. Mohan was first sent to Kashi for his spiritual studies and on his return was given the service of Baba Sangatdas Sahib. Mohan served Baba Sangatdas Sahib with great love and devotion and with their blessings and company he advanced greatly in his spiritual pursuits and became closer and closer to the Almighty. When Baba Sangatdas Sahib left for His heavenly abode, Mohan was rechristened as Baba Saroopdas Sahib and made his successor to the first gaddi of Darbar Sahib Halani.
Baba Saroopdas Sahib were extremely simple in their living. They were outwardly very innocent, but inwardly omniscient. They blessed their devotees with a number of boons and miracles during their lifetime. People would come from far off to the Darbar to seek their darshan and blessings. Baba were extremely popular in the whole of Sind province and people had great love and affection for them.
Baba Saroopdas Sahib adorned the gaddi(holy seat) of Darbar Sahib Halani for 49 years.
