Born in Culcutta, Raj finished his schooling from St. Paul's Darjeeling, and college at St. Xaviers's College, Calcutta. Owing to the sudden death of his father, he was forced to join his family business at an early age.

Today, Raj Mahtani is the dynamic force behind Satramdas Dhalamal, one of the East's oldest and most reputed Jewellery Houses since 1880. The company has grown in size and is ready to launch a new designer jewellery line-MATANE-in India and in six countries abroad.

Raj is an NRI who travels widely and has business interests abroad. He is also a leading diamond merchant and is well respected in international business circles.
