Rupa Barwani ranked third in West Bengal in the Pre University Examination of Calcutta University. She repeated her performance on the M.A. Examination in Education under the same university.

Later she joined as a lecturer in the Education Dept. of Shri Shikshyatan College. She also obtained a U.G.C. Teacher fellowship for 3 years and completed her Ph.D in Education from Viswa-Bharati University, Shantiniketan.

At present she is a reader and head of the Dept. of Education Shri Shikshyatan College.
