Gogia
B. B. Gogia is a leading lawyer of Rajkot and is
considered as one of the expert advocates of Gujarat
in service matters. As a practising lawyer in his
early years, he was detained under MISA in Rajkot
jail and he also went to prison for his convictions.
He plunged into social work and politics thereafter.
Gogia was born on 13th August 1940 in Gerelo village
in Larkana (Sind). After matriculation, he took
up a teacher's job. From 1957 to 1969 he worked
with the Indian Railways in Rajkot. During this
period, he organized and took part in trade union
activities. He became Divisional Secretary of Western
Railway Employees Union of Rajkot Division. In January
1970, he resigned from the Railways and entered
the legal profession. Gogia has worked as Additional
Public Prosecutor & Government Pleader of Rajkot
Ditrict for four years. He was elected the Councillor
in Rajkot Municipal Corporation in 1984 and was
also elected as Deputy Leader of the Congress Party
in Municipal Corporation & Vice President of
Rajkot City Congress.
Since
the last 15 years he is connected with Sadhu Vaswani
Mission's acivities at Rajkot, where he was nominated
the Managing Trustee/Secretary of the Sadhu Vaswani
Centre (Saurashtra) Rajkot.
