Hari Shewa Girls' Higher Secondary Vidyalaya, established
in 1968, is located at Sant Kanwar Colony at Vadodara
- earlier known as Baroda -- in Gujarat. This school,
which had 250 students in the beginning, became
popular among the Sindhis because of the level of
education, discipline and extra curricular activities.
As more students wanted admission, the school authorities
had to think of expansion of the school. A plot
of land, which was under the Union Government was
handed over to the Baroda Municipal Corporation;
and it is this land, which the Vidyalaya authorities
wanted to construct the school. The school team
approached the then Gujarat Chief Minister Ghanshyambhai
Oza for getting the land and the plot was given
to them as Land Revenue Grant Free Plot. Rev Pujya
Baba Shewaram Sahib of Bhilwara together with Tulsi
Notani, the administrator, visited USA, Canada,
Dubai and Bahrain etc to collect funds. This school
is considered as the best among the 30 Sindhi schools
in Gujarat and the students are regulars on the
merit lists of the Board. Government of Gujarat
honoured Tulsi Notani with the Best Principal award. With
the help from R J Advani, R J Advani Computer Centre
was started in the school. The management constructed
a new building having Sitabai and Padmabai Bhambhani
& M B Melwani Trust, Singapore to impart knowledge
in vocational courses like Beauty, Fashion &
Dress Designing and Secretarial Practice. Veteran
film and TV artist Ajit Vachhani inaugurated the
centre while baba Hansraj and Swami Ashoklal Maharaj
were present. Efforts are on to affiliate the Vidyalaya
with the SNDT University of Mumbai.
