CONTIBUTION TO NATIONAL CAUSE

All the other religious activities of the Ashram in fact contribute to national development. But instances are not wanting when the Ashram made direct contribution to relief measures in times of natural calamities and mational crisis. Acharya Shri SwamiGaneshdasji donated several hundred bags of paddy to the flood relief fund floated by Shri Jyori Basu, West Bengal Chief Minister, in October 1978. he also donated Rs. 25,000 in cash and several hundred grammes of gold to the face of Chinese aggression in 1952. apart form the donations, the Mahant also persuaded the Ashram devotees to collect funds for national defence in various parts of the country during the war with China and the two subsequent wars with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971. the Mahant himself , along with a number of Sadhus and other inmates of the Ashram donated blood for the defence forces.
