MUMBAI- SADHUBELA

WHAT IT DOES

The Ashram aims at revival of Hindu philosophy, religion and culture through its various branches. The Ashram complex at the Bombay head quarters, which owes its creation and development to the present Mahant, Rajarshi Acharya Shri Swami Ganeshdasji Maharaj, has a Shri Sakshi Gopal Mandir, Shri Srichand Mandir, Shri Shankar Bhagwan Mandir Katha Hall and other units where religious worship discourses and cultural festivals are held regularly. Apart from thousands of devotees and followers participating in these functions, a large number visit the temples daily for the pooja and Darshan of 'Dhooni' for 41 days in the belief to fulfill one's wish. The new structural complex was inaugurated by His Holiness Shri Mahant Indireshchandasji Mahant, Darbar Gururamraj Dehradun, on February 12, 1957, Exactly two years and two months after Tapasvi Poorandasji Maharaj laid its foundation stone. The Sadhubella Aatitheyam is a branch of the Ashram. Situated in the ideal surroundings of Haridwar, one of the most important Indian pilgrimage centres on the Himalayan foot hills. Interestingly, the Aatitheyam complex including a Sakshi Gopal Mandir, stands on a plot of land donated by a religious leader Shri Swami Atmanandiji Maharaj of Pagpattam who was highly impressed by the activities of the Ashram and gave away the land in 1964. Another religious leader, Shri Swami Asanganandi Maharaj of Hare Ram Ashram, Haridwar on April 23, 1966, laid the foundation stone. The opening ceremony of the complex was performed by Dr. Aditya Nath Jha, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on April 25, 1970. Dr. Jha was known for his learning and education.Yet another religious leader, Mahant Prayagmuniji Maharaj, disciple of the late Shri Mahant Gurumukhdasji Maharaj of Sindhi Kutia, was so much impressed with the activities of Shri Sadhubella that he gifted away a plot of land to the Ashram for setting up the Sadhubella at Vrindaban. The land for Ashram's branch in the national capital at Delhi, was donated along with a bungalow by Smt. Narayani Devi Prabhudas Dembla. The Delhi branch is renamed as Sadhubella Prabhu Ashram by Acharya Shri Swami Ganeshdasji Maharaj, which includes Shri Sakshi Gopal Mandir, "Dhooni" (perpetual sacred flame) Shri Durgaji Mandir, Shri Shankar Parvati Mandir, Acharya Shri Shrichandraji Mandir, Satsang Katha Hall and rooms for Sadhus and visiting guests and pilgrims.

Similar branches of the Sadhubells Ashram have come up pver the years in Varanasi, social, medical, educational and cultural activityes at the respective centres. What distinguishes Sadhubella Ashram of Udasin Sect from other Ashrams of religious bearing is that the Sadhubella Ashram does not confine its activities merely to religious shere, nor the facilities at the Ashram centres are available only to Sadhus and saints. There are indeed a number of rooms for Sadhus in the Ashram complex at Bombay and other centres. Self contained rooms for visiting guests and pilgrims are also freely available at Haridwar and efforts are also on to provide accommodation to visitors at other branches also.
