Shillong: 

This city is the capital of Meghalaya State and an important hill station in North East India. Here only 35 different Sindhi families stay in the total city population of 7 lakhs. They have formed a United Sindhi Association (U.S.A.) with 200 members. Their president is Shri Gobind Bahirwani & Secretary is Shri Haresh Mordani. They perform some social activities for the benefit of the Sindhi Community and celebrate the annual cultural festivals of (.~hatichand & Holi on a grand scale. At least 90% of them speak in Sindhi among themselves. They also run Sindhi teaching classes on public holidays and meet among themselves on happy & unhappy occasions. Being a hill station, the city has many places of tourist interest such as Shillong Peak, Naidu Peak, Chirapunji having heaviest rainfall as compared to all other cities of India.
