Sindhi
Bhasha Bhavan
University of Mumbai and several philanthropists from
the Sindhi community have joined hands to erect Sindhi
Bhasha Bhavan, for the preservation and progress of
Sindhi language in India. The University has given
a 90,000 sq. ft. plot at its Vidyanagari Campus and
recently the foundation stone has been laid.
The main features of this project are:
1) around 20,000 sq. ft. will be provided for the
auditorium to accommodate 700 people at a time,
2) a central library will be constructed with working
rooms for the researchers,
3) around 25,000 books related to the Sindhi culture
is to be stored in the Library,
4) a Museum and a Hall will show glimpses of different
periods of Sindh and
5) a separate section for audio/video cassettes of
the language will be built.
The main objectives of this organization will be to
encourage research activities, provide material in
any language on Sindhi literature, maintain the Sindhi
tradition thus preserving all the aspects of Sindhi
culture.
