Gwaliar: This Royal City of Scindhia Dynasty has total jpopulation of nearly 15 lakhs which includes ½ lakh Sindhis. They have formed 52 small associations in different localities but mainly they have 2 parallel Panchayat namely “Pui Sindh Hindu General Panchayat”. It’s President is Shri Srichand Valecha & Secretary is Shri Anand Karara. This Panchayat was established in 1948 when J. B. Mangharam Factory was established here wherein a great number of Sindhi’s were employed (The factory has since been taken over by the Britannia Co.). The name of other Panchayat is “Sindh Hindu General Panchayat” whose President & Secretary are respectively S/Shri Mulchand Jaisinghani & Nanikram Purswani. These 2 General Panchayats are represented by 2 main members of 52 small associations mentioned above. Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha is also having its branch here. However, this city does not have a Central Sindhi Panchayat. In addition to above Panchayats, they have also established “Sindh Navyuvak Samajik Suraksha Mandal” with 400 young nenbers (aged 18 to 35 years) for the purpose of guarantying the Security of all Sindhis & also for preserving our rich culture, art and language. Hence Sindhis of this big city have high hopes in this organization (of having fathers of tomorrow). The Sindhis of other cities can learn from such an example, particularly for safe guarding their life and property in case of jperiodical attacks by goondas & terrosits, etc. Each organization is doing less or more social services in its own field. Many annual festivals are celebrated here separately by different associations in different localities. However, it is satistfying to note that Chetichand Festival is celebrated on a grand scale unitedly by all organizations. They are mainly in business field and are well of economically. Most of them speak in Sindhi Language at home & among themselves. They manage Sindhi Adrash Mandir School but alas, Sindhi Language is not taught there even as one of the subjects! Kavi Samduns art, arranged here on the occasions of birth & death anniversaries of martyr Hemu Kalani. Nearly 80 Sindhi affluent families stay,: &mous “Sindh Vihar” situtated at Rokyal Jai Vilas Palace area of Late Madhavrao Scindhia. There are some Sindhi Dharamshallas & Temples here such as Parmanand Pahumal Sindhi Dh. (Khaski Bazar), Sindhi Dharamshalla & Jhulelal Mandir Ful Baug & many Other gardens, etc.
