Sindhis
in Chennai
Sindhis
have made Chennai in Tamil Nadu as the home and
are known for the contribution to the industry,
and are into textile business as well.
There
are quite a number of Sindhi community centres in
Chennai. Ever since 1950s, the Sindhi Hindu Mandal
has been a forum for conducting weekly satsangs
and bhagwats; there is a wedding hall as well there.
Religious
discourses and rituals are performed at the Kilpauk
Darbar.
Many
within the community feel that the Sindhi language
is living on borrowed time. For the last 28 years,
Sindhis learn the Sindhi language from the Sadhu
Vaswani Centre - founded by Poonam Chulani, Indira
Hemdev, Sunitha Raheja and Kamal B Keswani -- on
Halls Road.
Sindhis
are celebrating Cheti Chand - New Year, and Navratri.
