Since
beginning he was a devoted staunch Congress Worker.
He had a very deep knowledge of law but due to
his involvement in Congress work he could not
give proper attention to his practice. He was
a brilliant speaker and good orator. He was very
popular in Muslim Masses and was called 'Vali
Shah' by them. He was the Vice President of Sind
Provincial Congress Committee and leader of Congress
Assembly Party. After partition he was in charge
of the Refugee Camps in Maharashtra. He devoted
his time to this Congress work and Rehabilitation
of Refugees from Sind.
Many
times he was sentenced to jail in Congress National
Movements. In 1942, he went under ground for some
time. After Choithram Gidwani, Valecha was a veteran
Freedom Fighter who chose crown of thorns rather
than post and position which he could have got
easily.
