B.L. Masand

Captain Bharat Lal MAsand was the first Sindhi Army officer who was awarded Vir Chakra posthumously. Born on 27th August 1949 at Indore, he joined the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla when he was only 15 years old. He was trained as a Paratrooper and was killed in 1971 during Indo-Pak war at Jessore Cantt, East Pakistan now in Bangladesh
